Recently, my friend told me about this Garbage enzyme and how it works and some benefits. Out of curiosity I google the internet about Garbage Enzyme and this website came up http://www.o3enzyme.com. I am not here to judge how true it is, I think I should leave it to the reader to judge. But before that let's also take a look at what is OZONE O3 in wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ozone.
Ozone definition:
Ozone or trioxygen (O3) is a triatomic molecule, consisting of three oxygen atoms. It is an allotrope of oxygen that is much less stable than the diatomic O2. Ground-level ozone is an air pollutant with harmful effects on the respiratory systems of animals and humans. So remember if you produce any O3 in Ground level (IE. your house or aparment) you are actually polluting the air. And it is also harmful to human.
Let's see what O3enzyme.com has to say about their solution.

Use Enzyme to Reduce Global Warming
What is Garbage Enzyme?
Dr Rosukon's Garbage Enzyme is a complex organic substance of protein chains and mineral salts and juvenile hormones.
Functions of Garbage Enzyme
- resolve / decompose
- transform / change
- compose / make up / combine
- catalysis
As a result of catalysis, ozone is produced which can reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and this in turn reduces global warming.
This enzyme can be produced easily with the organic waste from our kitchens.
During enzyme production, O3 + NO3 + CO3 are generated and these could help purify and whiten the clouds in the sky. Those clouds that trap lots of heavy metals appear dark. Those dark clouds cause more heat to be trapped on earth due to the greenhouse effect. O3 (ozone) from the garbage enzymes could reduce the heavy metals in the clouds and this would reduce global warming.
More NO3 (nitrite) in the air is useful as nutrients for the plants and soil.

Lets read about what is enzyme http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enzyme.
Lets analyze each of the above statement
*As a result of catalysis, ozone is produced which can reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and this in turn reduces global warming.
As you read about the ozone article in wikipedia, there is no way to produce O3 using enzyme. Even it is, to produce O3 at ground level is air pollution and is harmful to human if you remember. and O3 is highly unstable and cannot reach the ozone layer. Again O3 does not reduce carbon dioxide in our air if you read the article about ozone in wikipedia. O3 does not reach well with Co2 but hey wait:
Ozone reacts with carbon to form carbon dioxide, even at room temperature:
C + 2 O3 → CO2 + 2 O2
So Ozone takes away carbon and form CO2? it O3 is going to reduce CO2 and it should not form it.
*This enzyme can be produced easily with the organic waste from our kitchens.
I am not sure about that, but I really wanna know what is the scientific name of the enzyme. If is that simple, we should have included this in our high school chemistry syllabus.
*O3 + NO3 + CO3 are generated and these could help purify and whiten the clouds in the sky
O3 will never make it to ozone layer or even the sky. Again read about what is NO3
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No3. They two BOLD Capital words I saw is HUMAN TOXICITY AND MARINE TOXICITY. I would say the cloud is as white as the time before we have our air pollution problem. whiten?
*Those clouds that trap lots of heavy metals appear dark.
I thought thicker cloud appears to be darker?
*More NO3 (nitrite) in the air is useful as nutrients for the plants and soil.
NO3 is most likely become a salt with metal and again is Ion, it can't just stand alone like that without combining with other molecules.
So now, reader should be able to judge whether such enzyme can be produced by kitchen waste?
and O3 can be produced through this manner and is it helping the earth ?
For everyone out there defintely we want healthy lifestyle and healthy earth, is your choice to use this methods or not, but bare in mind that O3, NO3 is harmful to human, anything to do with drinking, bathing and so on, please do more analysis before trying it out. Choice is yours!
I had read around the web about this "Garbage Enzymes" but it seems that all I get is information re-distributed from two sources and both from Malaysia. Just wondering, do you have any other resources to support the above claims? I would like to try it myself but not patience enough to have it proved 3 months later.
ReplyDeleteI was looking around, learning and finally a 3rd point of view from you, bravo. I agree with you on the unproven safeness/un-safeness on human. Unfortunately, your points are still incomplete with scientific supports that I am searching.
I was hoping like you to find out what type of enzymes involved and what chemical compounded at the end. I am not a science student but my guesses are:
1) The cleaning effect most probably comes from the acidic nature and the alcohol in the final product, which I think it should work well to kill bacteria and scrap of dirt but the smell is arguable.
2) The natural enzymes from whatever kitchen waste reacted and I believe yeast may have a part of it too (from the fact that we add sugar), so anything could be in the mixture. NOTE: different enzymes have different function. Therefore, the O3 + NO3 + CO3, is just a general assumption!
3) No doubt, it is full of nutrients but how to stop the catalyst and how long can it be kept and stay effective.
4) Acid and alcohol does not go well with plastic so minus for the safeness on cleaning food and human application. Oxygen should be required but if substitute with glass containers, osmosis may not happen, how to resolve.
5) One point to highlight, the NO3 should be organic as it is from organic raw material. It makes good fertiliser. Nevertheless, I needed more info to prove that.
I had known waste compose to be great fertiliser. However, to be cleaner & sterile sounds plausible but the question stays whether it’s a biohazard. I am not too worried about the O3 + NO3 + CO3. These molecules are so unstable; they could degrade or combine with other elements in a short time, but to what combination? Maybe with enough amount and concentration, we could even make a house bomb. Ha ha! I would not want something that could explode to have anything to do with my food! Cheers!
yes, i was too wondering how true this garbage enzyme is. So far what I've seen are articles from malysia and singapore only, without much scientific explanation, except for the fact that it was invented by some medical doctor in thailand.
ReplyDeleteif it prove to be true it would definitely be great, but what I'm afraid now that with no proper research and explanation, side effects that may exist might cause more damage than good.
And enzymes are tricky business indeed... :p
Thanks for the reply :) Cheers
ReplyDeleteJust read the reply, but I should say this enzyme are marketed unders some MLM company, basically I am not sure how true the effect is, but from what my experience O3 is harmful, and NO3 is good for plant not human.
ReplyDeleteI have friend who tested it out, but the outcome is she get itchy skin and have to consult doctor later, but whether how true it is I will always let the users and readers to decide themselves
My mom is using this everywhere and I am quite scared. I did a google search on this so called "Miracle Enzyme" and all I could come up with were the same copy and pasted articles.
ReplyDeleteI do not believe this enzyme does all that it claims and that it can cause more harm then good. The fact that this is a trend gaining speed causes me great concern. I wish other scientists would chime in on this and release some official research to protect ignorant people.
